I brought out the singlespeed cyclocross bike for my commute. It was still fitted with Maxxis Raze tires. And it made a world of difference in my commute.
The lower gearing helped push through the slush. The knobby tires held well through the wintry mix on the road.
I wish I moved my fenders though.
Random thoughts of snowstorm Pax...
I see ski tracks on the side of the road. Awesome to see.
Those large boulders of snow, I figured that the plows had their blades pointed the wrong way and we're pushing the snow into the middle of the roadway as opposed to the side. I grew up in the North and that's what I am use to. Atlanta may not know.
I saw an Atlanta Police Department patrol car, with rear tire chains, on Ponce just East of Juniper. Instead of driving where the road was clear of snow, the officer was driving so the car wheels were in the snow.
I thought that was very cool because they were crushing the snow and basically melting it into slush. And slush, in my opinion, is easier/safer to drive through. The wheels of the vehicle have contact with the road. If it was done purposely, great idea. If not, it's a great accident.
